At the Studio we focus on growth; the growth of the artist. You want to work? Become a person whose talent and grace changes others, period. If you want to get an agent then make an audience happy, and an agent will find you. Hollywood can be a very upside-down place. It came into being because the camera wanted to capture something that only an actor can do. Yet over the years actors somehow ended up thinking that they served the camera instead of the camera serving them. Just look at the subtle use of language to enforce this concept; an actor offering to read for a role is called, “a submission”. Do you really want to step into a room to take a part and be a “submissive”? I don’t think it’s a grand plot, and my thoughts on this are clear in a number of essays you can find on the site, but in creating the “Who’s Doing What” page I want to be careful that you understand this is our way of sharing our Studio Members successes with you, and not a sop to Hollywood’s obsession with “booking”. Remember, we book clown for children’s parties, but actors play roles. In that vein, here is a partial list of some of those roles our actors have been playing of late …
