“What’s the best way to grow an actor? Put them in a scene with a better actor, a strong director, and let them fight to win the scene. The Carter Thor Studios focus on scene study does just that and it has worked for twenty years running.”

--Cameron Thor

The Carter Thor Studio Teen Class is an extension of the intense and successful work we have done with professional adults for twenty years.

Set in a weekly format and run by long time Studio Instructor and acting-coach, Billy Scott; The Teen Class focuses on scene study. The Studio has always believed that, as Cameron says, “If you are an actor the best way to learn is to dress up like someone else and get busy not being yourself” – in other words to learn to act by acting!

Approached in a manner aligned with our adult classes, our Teen Class works the majority of the time focusing on scene study. We take advantage of our large student body of professional actors by inviting them to participate in scene work in the Teen Class. This gives the young actors the rare and incredibly important experience of playing scenes with adults – the scenes they will most likely be playing on television and in films.

We work on every level of material with our young people while being careful to stay within the boundaries that are a natural extension of our student’s age range. The Teen Class uses scene’s from film and television and includes scenes from popular shows on typical young people’s networks but to be completely focused on material from these popular networks would limit the young actor.

The Carter Thor Studio Teen Class keeps its class sizes tight and personal. Each young actor is attended to as an individual, but each member of the Teen Class is welcome to attend all the Studio events and special guests.

Under the guidance Billy Scott, Alice Carter, and Cameron Thor the Carter Thor Studio Teen Class has a bright future with new and exciting programs being created while you read this. We don’t just tell actors what used to work, we learn from the best in the business about what is winning and working today and tomorrow; shaping young actors to be ready not only to succeed, but more importantly to survive and thrive as healthy adults in this topsy-turvy industry.
